Fall Into Reading 2008: Eden's List

I love participating in Katrina's reading challenges. The reading challengs are an opportunity for me to force myself to read books. Don't get me wrong; I love to read. I simply have difficulty with actually sticking to the books that I already own and haven't read and finishing them before I move on to something else.

Anyway, for Fall Into Reading 2008, I'll be attempting to read and finish the following books:

FICTION:

Beaches by Iris R. Dart. I found this book on sale at Barnes and Noble. I've seen the movie and I like reading the books that movies are based off of.

Admissions by Nancy Lieberman. I found this book on sale at Barnes and Noble. I'm not sure if that's a good sign or a bad sign, but this book is not a normal read for me.

Blow Fly by Patricia Cornwell. I started reading the Kay Scarpetta books when I was about 16 years old. I love them. I have however, gotten behind on the series, so, it's time to pick up where I left off.

Untamed Desire by Kim Hansen . This book was on one of the nightstands at my Granny's house.

NON-FICTION:

Kinsman Redeemer by Precept upon Precept. I'm not exactly sure who the author of this Bible study is, possibly Kay Arthur. However, this is the Bible study, the PWOC here in San Angelo is doing. So far, it's incredible!

The Remarkable Women of the Bible by Elizabeth George. I grabbed this book for $5 at my local Christian bookstore.

Proverbs: Ancient Wisdom for a Postmodern World Volume 1 by Sue Edwards. We'll be starting this Bible study at PWOC here in San Angelo this coming Tuesday. I'm looking forward to it.

Discerning the Voice of God: How to Recognize When God Speaks by Priscilla Shirer. Several of my friends have read this book and have highly recommended it.

1-2-3 Magic for Christian Parents: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 by Thomas W. Phelan and Chris Webb. I totally need this one. This book comes highly recommended by some of my friends.

How to Clean Your Home Fast by Vicki Christian. I enjoy keeping my house clean and doing so in a short amount of time. Any tips on how to keep my home sparkly clean in a short amount of time is just what I want to glean from reading this book.

Fast and Healthy Meals for Busy Women by Marilyn Moll. An e-book with lots of healthy tips, recipes and lots of information. I don't necessarily think of myself as a busy woman, but I do like to keep informed on how to keep my family healthy.

Mama's Guide to Growing Your Groceries by Kimberly Eddy. I'm always looking for new ways to be frugal. One way for me to be frugal is to learn how to garden. Yes, you read that correctly! It's laughable, especially since I didn't acquire my mother's green thumb.

Menu Planning Made Easy! by Sheri Graham. I already do menu/meal planning, but I love learning/gleaning new tips from others.

Supermarket Savings 101: A Beginning Course Teaching You How to Drastically Reduce Your Grocery Budget by Crystal Paine. Yes, you do see a theme here. Learning to be frugal and being frugal are Biblical, therefore, I want to learn how to do it properly.

The Bread by Hand by Kimberly Eddy. I love making homemade bread and I'm looking forward to learning more about making homemade breads.

Mama's Guide to Thriving on One Income
by Kimberly Eddy. Just more information from a Godly standpoint.

Some of those money- and time-saving books look interesting. You'll have to let us know if they are good and how they work out for you. I think we are all looking for ways to save money.

I might need to check on that cleaning fast one! I've read 2 by Jodi Picoult and loved Plain Truth by her. Looks like a good list.

Thanks Eden for taking a look around my blog-I am so not good about taking the time to update but I am trying.

So, far I love the Proverbs study! It is exactly what I like to do. The other one was just not my cup of tea. I am almost done with Week 1-I have only done the numbered questions but I do plan on going back and looking at the more in depth ones if time allows.

I work at the "The Learning Center" it is off of Knickerbocker. I love my babies but there are some "issues" that make me unhappy with it. With that being said I feel that I am led to be there and just love on them and pray for them.

Thanks about the birthday wishes.

We attend Sierra Vista United Methodist Church. We love it! They have a wonderful youth program and we are so blessed for that since we have older children.

See ya on Tuesday!
